Exporting almonds to Europe

The European import of almonds is expected to increase at a low rate of 1-3% annually in the long term. This expected growth is driven by a healthy snacking trend and increasing almond-based new product launches. Another driving force is the need for new almond origins due to the expected high tariffs on imported almonds from the USA. Opportunities for new developing-country suppliers can be found in offering sustainably produced almonds or almonds with distinctive quality characteristics. New suppliers must be aware of fierce external competition from the USA and internal competition from Spain.
