Leather products from Ethiopia
During the last 2 decades, we have seen a sharp increase in European Union (EU) imports of leather and leather products. In particular, there has been an increase in imports of chrome-free leather products and footwear. Ethiopia is well-known for its finished leather, and the Ethiopian value chain has huge potential for export growth and employment creation. Relevant international and governmental initiatives (PUM, Solidaridad, Stahl and MVO NL) also offer good collaboration opportunities to position Ethiopia as a sustainable sourcing destination.
CBI offers technical assistance through a practical Business Export Coaching project. This project is for (aspiring) exporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Ethiopia. It also involves cooperation with different Business Support Organisations in the leather products sector.
