Exporting specialty cocoa to Europe
Consumers are increasingly demanding premium chocolate, which makes the market for specialty cocoa the fastest growing segment in Europe. Specialty cocoa is recognised as such if it includes aspects of good traceability, good genetics, unique origins (terroir), good harvest and post-harvest techniques, higher quality and certification. Direct trade, long-term relationships and fair (premium) pricing, based on rewards for quality, are all important characteristics of the specialty cocoa trade, which make it a high-potential market for cocoa producers and exporters.
