Exporting speciality cocoa to Europe

Consumers are increasingly demanding premium chocolate, which makes the market for speciality cocoa the fastest growing segment in Europe. Speciality cocoa is recognised as such if it includes aspects of good traceability, good genetics, unique origins (terroir), good harvest and post-harvest techniques, higher quality and certification. Direct trade, long-term relationships and fair (premium) pricing, based on rewards for quality, are all important characteristics of the speciality cocoa trade, which make it a high-potential market for cocoa producers and exporters.
