European coffee buyers want their suppliers to follow the European Union deforestation law (EUDR). Join our webinar to find out what these rules mean for your company. We will also discuss how buyers and suppliers deal with the challenges of the EUDR. Another topic is how we can make use of young people to fight challenges and create added value.

Jeroen Kruft, CBI Expert coffee, will host this webinar.

Jeroen Kruft

Jeroen Kruft is a consultant for natural ingredients at CBI and specializes in coffee, cacao and climate smart agriculture. He helps cooperatives and local exporters find markets in Europe, but also advises on adding value, branding and marketing. Jeroen is also a researcher and has contributed to various CBI studies, the latest of which is about digital tools for EUDR-compliance

Patrick Gouka 

Patrick Gouka

Patrick Gouka is senior programme manager and sector account manager for coffee at CBI. Patrick has been with the CBI since 2006 and has since then managed several programmes in many countries. On coffee, he was active in Uganda, Ethiopia and Rwanda.

Muhangi James 

Muhangi James

Muhangi James is a senior cooperative advisor with Agriterra. He is an Agricultural economist with diverse knowledge and experience in corporate governance and leadership, building sustainable services models, gender mainstreaming in agricultural value chains, research and agribusiness. 

He has worked with Rubanga Cooperative Society, USADF, USAID, Orga-Farm LTD, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Bioversity International. James has recently been the lead for EUDR compliance of farmer cooperatives and organizations under the aBi Development-funded project in Uganda.

Koen Sneyers

Koen Sneyers

Koen knows a lot about what international coffee markets want when it comes to sustainability. As agribusiness manager at a Ugandan company that exports sustainable coffee, he helped change how they work—from buying in bulk to building a fully traceable and certified supply chain with over 30,000 small farmers. He also helped create a new company standard for sustainability and helped develop the first coffee traceability software in Africa. Koen now runs a consulting company in Kampala called Impact Lines. There, he and his team do research and checks for big coffee companies and certification groups.
