Environment: Improvement options for leather

The downloadable document describes the process of producing leather products from raw material. The document starts with a short description of the leather industry and its environmental impacts and environmentally sound production in general. This is followed by a MET matrix. A MET matrix is a relatively simple method of listing environmental impacts that should be taken into account. The MET matrix gives a quick overview of environmental problems.

Each process step is shortly described ,also some improvement options are provided for each process step. The intention of the improvement options is to give an idea what steps companies can take to make their products and production process environmentally more sound. The improvement options are not meant to give tailor-made solutions.
