International phytosanitary standards: International Plant Protection Convention

The IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) aims to prevent the spread and introduction of pests of plants and to promote appropriate measures for their control.

The IPPC publishes standards and guidelines on phytosanitary issues in international trade. WTO members are obliged to base their phytosanitary measures on these standards.

In each member state the IPPC has local offices (NPPOs) that render services to exporters and therefore important contacts.
