International management system: GlobalGAP (Fresh Fruit and Vegetables)

If you want to export fresh fruit and vegetables to the EU, GlobalGAP is one of the most imported schemes initiated by EU buyers. The system based on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). It includes a standard and independent certification.

Although food safety was the initial incentive, the standard nowadays also includes requirements on environmental and social issues. Furthermore standards are developed for products other than fresh fruit and vegetables, such as fish, livestock, flowers, cotton and coffee and tea.

This document provides information on the GlobalGAP standards for fresh fruit and vegetables, including possibilities for smallholders and benchmarks with other certification schemes. More information on GlobalGAP for fishery , flowers and cotton, refer to the related documents
