EU legislation: Vitamins and minerals added to food New document

If you export food with added vitamins (e.g. Vitamin B, Niacin or Folic Acid), minerals (e.g. Calcium, Zinc or Chromium) or other substances (e.g. fibres or essential fatty acids), you have to make sure your products comply with the EU legislation on this matter. The EU legislation applies to food products to which the aforementioned substances are voluntarily added and is currently still under development. As such, national requirements of the EU Member States can be relevant as well.
The main requirements relate to:

• Authorised vitamins and minerals
• Authorised sources of vitamins and minerals
• Minimum amounts
• Labelling information

This document provides an outline on the aforementioned requirements, information on when national requirements can be applicable and references to other relevant legislation.
