EU legislation: Hygiene of food (HACCP)

If you want to export food products to the EU, you have to make sure that your products meet all food safety requirements. For producers and exporters of food it is very important to have appropriate hygiene procedures in place that guarantee food safety.
Food business operators active in the EU are obligated to have hygiene procedures in place that are based on HACCP (Hazard Analyses Critical Control Point). Although this obligation does not apply directly to food processors outside the EU, EU buyers give preference to food processed while taking the HACCP principles into account.

This document provides an introduction to the EU legislation on hygiene of food (HACCP) and states it importance for producers and exporters from developing countries.
