Environment: Industrial waste water treatment
|
Environmentally sound production aims to prevent the output of waste. In most cases the output of waste during industrial production is inevitable. Therefore end-of-pipe measures are important. While industrial waste water treatment may not come to mind as the first priority to many manufacturers, world-wide there is a tendency towards regulations on the drainage of industrial waste water into the sewage system. The downloadable document is based on 3 techniques of industrial waste water management: mechanical, biological and physical-chemical methods. The choice for a method will depend on the amount and contents of the pollution and on the costs and efficiency of implementation. This document provides a brief introduction, but it will still give important information for producers in developing countries since the issue of waste water is becoming more important.
