Who can apply?

· Participants will be participating in a EU trade fair in the near future.
· Participants are responsible for preparing the trade fair participation in the EU
· The participants company is exporting or planning to export to the European market and from one of the CBI target countries
· Participants should have an excellent command of the English language.

Objectives

Participation in international trade fairs provides exporters with an excellent opportunity to promote their products and to establish contacts with potential business relations. The training “Effective Trade Fair Participation” offers Small and Medium Enterprises the opportunity to become fully familiar with the necessary knowledge, tools and skills to prepare, execute and give follow-up, to international trade fairs in Europe.

Target audience

The training is meant for staff members of exporting companies who are responsible for the organisation of participations in international trade fairs. Experience in this field is necessary in order to fully participate in the workshop. Additionally the participants should have some experience in exports and international business and have excellent command of the English language.

Goals

After participating in this training, you will be able to...

• use the appropriate tools to communicate with an European export market;
• select the best European exhibition;
• prepare and manage an individual collective trade fair participation in Europe;
• create and advise on stand design;
• show effective stand behavior; and,
• have shared knowledge and experiences with other exporters;

At the end of the training the participant:

▪ has gained improved knowledge of tools to communicate with an European export market;
▪ is able to prepare and manage an individual trade fair participation in Europe;
▪ has improved his/her skills in identifying suitable exhibitions, selecting the right exhibitors
  and in dealing with trade fair organizations, stand constructors, customs etc.
▪ has gained improved knowledge on issues like project management, budgeting, stand
  layout and design, visitor’s promotion and PR, stand behaviour, evaluation and follow-up;
▪ is familiar with CBI’s mission and website.

▪ August 9-10,  2010 - Cali
▪ August 12-13, 2010 - Cartagena
▪ August 17-18,2010 - Bogotá
